Pan-American Marine Energy Conference
PAMEC 2026

he main technical forum in the Americas dedicated to offshore renewable energy was held for the first time in Brazil—specifically in Rio de Janeiro, with Coppe/UFRJ as the host institution. The event took place from April 10th to 15th, 2026. The number of registered participants exceeded 120 expert professionals from eighteen countries, with significant delegations from Canada, Colombia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and many Brazilian states.

PAMEC 2026 took place at a strategic moment for advancing the energy transition and the blue economy. It brought together experts from various countries—not just the Americas—to share research results, debate innovative pathways, and discuss the challenges in developing sustainable technological solutions for exploring the energy potential of the oceans. Topics focusing on offshore renewable sources such as offshore wind, wave energy, thermal and salinity gradients, as well as renewable hydrogen production and synergies with the decarbonization of the offshore oil and gas sector were discussed in a keynote conference, in addition to workshops, panels, plenary sessions, and technical sessions.
